WATCH: Emmy's testimonial about Alan Gordon Studio

Hi everyone! It's been a little while, but while I've been away, I've been working on a lot of new things. Mostly what I've been doing is writing a lot for IFC (read my stuff here) and my own projects. I can't wait to share more details with you as my little projects develop into bigger ones in due time.

But I'm really here to talk about the OTHER thing that I spend a lot of time on: acting class. Since January of last year, I've been studying weekly with Alan Gordon, learning the Meisner Technique. Having primarily studied Stanislavsky, it's been an adjustment, but Alan is patient and passionate about helping his students grow and identify their personal strengths and weaknesses. It took me awhile to find a teacher whom I felt was genuinely invested in giving their students the best possible training and support, and Alan fits the bill. He takes the time to really listen to each of his students and push them to do and be the best they individually can. I wanted a mentor, not just someone who collects a check and doles out "instruction" and "inspirational" sound bites, and Alan is that mentor for where I am in my growth and development as an artist. My acting and even my writing have completely opened up and blossomed in new exciting directions, and I attribute that to Alan's support and guidance.
