 about

Emmy Potter was born and raised in Missouri where she learned manners, hard work, and the importance of smothering carbs in gravy and/or cheese. She spent much of her formative years performing in plays at her father's university and in numerous dance recitals (her collection of sequined leotards could put Liza Minnelli to shame). Along the way, she started playing the clarinet and the oboe, which she played all through college and still does when she has time. Emmy graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre from Oklahoma City University in 2011 where she studied voice with the reknowned teacher Larry Keller and spent a lot of hours alternately practicing Italian arias & Judy Garland repertoire and hiding from tornadoes in the music school practice rooms in the basement. Emmy has appeared in films, numerous cabarets, play readings, and comedy sketches around New York City as well as serving as a producer for events at venues such as the Laurie Beechman Theatre and the famed Metropolitan Room.  You can also read nerdy/funny things she writes about film, TV, and culture online for places like IFC, Huffington Post, The Belladonna, CultureSonar, Grunge, and Looper. Emmy can often be found riding her bike, Elliott (named for, yes, Elliott in E.T.) around the five boroughs in her spare time.  She has a deeply profound love of guacamole and British television.
